Intimus is known for quality shredders and the S14.95 Industrial Strip Cut Shredder is no exception. This durable machine is built to withstand the heavy duty shredding needs of any industry. High volume performance combined with easy to use controls deliver a shredder that is both functional and convenient. It is also narrowly designed to be able to fit through standard sized doors. Let’s take a closer look at the S14.95.

Strengths:

* Operation is designed to be simple. Two main power switches offer differing functions. The first is a locking master switch with on and off options. The second is a multifunction button with choices for Off, Forward, and Reverse commands. Off kicks in automatically when the waste bin is full or the cabinet door is open. Automated lights display when power is on, if there is a paper jam, or if the bin door is open. Together these keep the user apprised of the machine’s status and allow the opportunity to quickly discern and resolve any issues that may arise. Finally, an anti-jam function helps to keep the blades unclogged. If a paper jam does occur, the reverse function can help you dislodge overfed paper by rotating the cutting shafts backwards to send things out the opening.

* A powerful motor provides continuous shredding without the cool down time needed by smaller shredders. A thermo-sensor protects the engine from overheating and helps to prolong the life of your machine. Maintenance free design offers less hassle for you.

* A conveyor belt feed system slides both flat and crumpled paper into a wide 17 inch opening. A rotating paddle sweeps and hold the items in. Up to 140 sheets can enter the blades at one time and are shred as fast as 55 feet per minute. Unreadable inch strips remain and provide a level 2 security rating, perfect for all-purpose shredding.

* A voluminous 53 gallon shred bag catches the narrow strips. Bag removal and replacement is made simple by the wide opening cabinet door.

* Multiple optional items offer added possible functionality. A feed table expander would provide extra storage space for items waiting to be shred. Second, an emergency front stop bar offers an additional safety feature. A hinge kit offers the option of a left side opening door instead of the standard right. And finally, a baler would give a more compact disposal of the remains.

Weaknesses:

* The narrow slices only offer a level 2 security. This is fine for general office shredding. But any confidential information should go through a higher security device, such as the cross cut version of this model.

* This shredder weighs a hefty 1125 pounds. Thankfully, the designers considered this and outfitted it with two fixed and two lockable casters for easy mobility. We don’t think this will be an issue for most users.
