Bring as many keepsakes with you as you can. These should be smaller items that can fit into a small box to make it easier to keep track of. If possible try to make a video of your time together; this will come in handy when you get homesick. If a video is not an option, take as many photos as you can. Photos are great because they are convenient and can easily be carried and accessed whenever you need them.

The most important thing that you can do when you move away from your friends is to try not to be a stranger. People always say that they will visit old friends when they move away and just never get around to it. You should remember to set aside time to visit your old friends as well as having them come visit you at your new place. Although you may be keeping in touch through phone calls and other forms of communication nothing beats see your friends face to face.
