Man arrested after fatal accident in Londonderry, Northern Ireland

A 23-year-old pedestrian walking along Racecourse Road in the city of Londonderry, Northern Ireland at around 0220 GMT on Sunday night was struck by a black Volkswagen Passat and has been killed. A 22-year-old man has now been arrested by the police and taken away for questioning, so as to assist police with their enquiries.
The road was closed so that investigations could be carried out but has since been reopened. The Police Service of Northern Ireland are asking any witnesses to contact them as soon as possible.
Also, another accident was reported which took place in Newtownhamilton, County Armagh in which two 17 year old boys were involved. One of them is severely ill while the other has been discharged from the hospital.
